History

Gateway Woods sign before groundbreaking in 1976

Gateway Woods was founded in 1976, when our first two group-homes were opened on our 50-acre campus near Fort Wayne, IN. Since that time, our ministries have steadily grown through the guiding hand of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Program and facility additions have included:

  • 1976 - Residential Care
  • 1979 - Child and family counseling
  • 1986 - Independent living
  • 1988 - 3rd group home: Maple House
  • 1989 - Foster care
  • 1994 - Family services in Illinois (ended 2006)
  • 1997 - Gateway Woods School
  • 1998 - Home-Based Services
  • 2001 - International and domestic adoption
  • 2005 - Residential program for pregnant teens and teen moms
  • 2007 - 4th fourth group home: Cypress House
  • 2008 - 5th group home: Pine House
  • 2012 - Drug & Alcohol Treatment Program
  • SOON - Adoption in Illinois

Today, Gateway Woods is a provider of choice for a variety of children's services in northeast Indiana and beyond.
