Pine House Update
By Jonathan Magnin, Public Relations Intern
After one year of construction, Pine House’s first occupants took residence in mid January of 2009, making it the 5th residential home at Gateway Woods. Yet despite the completion of the project, there is still a financial shortage of $200,000. But God has continued to bless the residents of Pine House, along with the Houseparents, Shane and Stefanie Beer, who transferred from Hickory House.
In a recent interview, Shane commented on how privileged they feel to be in Pine House: “It has been such a blessing to be able to be in this new house,“ said Shane. “The wide-open layout makes it much easier to supervise the kids and made our job much easier.” Not only did Shane and Stefanie give praise to God for the new house, but they also spoke about the many challenges God has brought them through and the lessons he has taught them while at
Gateway Woods.
“We have come to realize and appreciate even more how God’s Word holds the answers for any circumstance and He can work in every situation,” said Stefanie. But the most amazing part of being at Gateway Woods is that you have a front row seat into these kids lives as their hearts are softened by God throughout their time here.”
Shane and Stefanie also touched on how important the support they have received is from the church and the body of Christ. “We have done a few presentations about Gateway Woods for a few churches, and when we go and see the support fellow brothers and sisters are giving us, we realize where the strength comes from on those hard days,” said Shane. “We just praise God for the encouragement He has given us throughout this time, and especially for Pine House.”
