Why Should You Attend The Auction?
Saturday, August 7
Why should you attend the Gateway Woods Auction on Saturday, August 7th? There are so many reasons to physically show up at this event. I have attended for many years now and it has always been a rich blessing. My husband and I first volunteered in the weeks prior to the Auction but we were not able to attend Auction day. It was hard to see all the beautiful quilts and items to be auctioned and not actually be a part of it. It was at that time that we felt we should definitely attend Auction day next year. Since then we have attended every year possible and continued to volunteer to help get everything ready. That was many years ago and the Auction has grown so much since then. It is a special blessing to be there at the opening program with staff and children singing, the opening prayer, and the opening bid.
You will be privileged to meet dear friends both locally and from all across the country. There are so many interesting items to bid on and people of every age are represented. There are tours available to see the group homes and the food is wonderful! Hard to beat those grilled pork chops and home-baked pies! The best part of it all is the chance to help a very much-deserved charity. Not too often can you come home with delicious baked goods, a beautiful quilt or craft, and have the good feeling that you have helped some boys and girls find a God-filled home with loving houseparents, helpful counselors, and teachers. Giving throughout the year to Gateway Woods is very much appreciated, but the real blessing is to physically attend the Auction and experience where your gift is going.

Making A Difference
Our Annual Auction provides nearly 15% of the annual income used to sponsor our five programs. Without the Auction, we would be severally restricted in the amount of services we provide.
We often receive letters or calls from past residents who are thankful for their time at Gateway Woods. Success and maturity are often slow in coming but over time they realize Gateway Woods is someplace special. Residents use phrases like "life changing" and "turn-around" to describe their experience at Gateway Woods. One resident called Gateway Woods her "life-saver."

Gateway Woods opens people's eyes to the hurts and needs of today's youth, many of whom come from broken homes and confused lives. As society continues to erode, the children coming to Gateway Woods have less and less to stand on.
Communities need places like Gateway Woods to help pick up the pieces to children's shattered lives. As long as the need exists, we will continue to serve the community with restorative services to children and their families
The Auction is our biggest fundraiser, bringing nearly 2,300 people to our campus on Auction Day. It is truly a family event with great food, activities for the kids, and a wholesome atmosphere. You can be absolutely certain that money donated at the Auction will be used efficiently and will truly make a difference.
